Gonna have to disagree on this one. There are tons of nights where Mydland is setting the pace for the band and carrying Jerry quite frankly. I completely understand if if you'd not want to sit through a compilation of We Can Run, Just a little light, ect. However, I 'm sure there is more than enough gigs to pull from over the years where he is just ripping it.

Ask dark.starz/kochman. I'm sure he has some more recommendations.

Anyway, the first one that comes to mind for me is this outstanding Shakedown:

Without a Net and Dozin at the Knick- showcase Brent's talents nicely. He really hit his stride in that period just before his death.

Although some of, (scratch that- most of) his originals are bummers he did spark the band. I much prefer his hammond organ rather than his piano sound. Watch the videos and see what a smile he put on jerrys face.

Peace

I'm sure it's been done, I know there's some decent stuff that's been available for a long time on Sugarmegs.org

This is a solo album that was never released from 1982:

http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/asxcards/BrentMydland1982UnreleasedSoloAlbum.html

A short live set from the Greek in 1988:

http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/asxcards/BrentMydland1988-07-10GreekTheatreBerkeleyCA.html

And this site: http://www.brentmydland.net/

is offering an mp3 collection they are calling the "Brent Compilation" for free download but I haven't listened to it so I've no idea whats on it.

Brent definitely deserves a best-live-versions compilation--sorry I don't know of any. Looks like one could carve an all-Brent sampler from the new Spring 1990 box, yet how many versions of We Can Run can ya stand? I will proudly declare my love for Brent's playing and singing, but holy shit, that's one bad song.

I may have been the dude standing next to you and, yes, that was a big ol' buzz kill, as that song always was for me.
And I can't listen to it anymore as I imagine his kid saying "You douche. Who's gonna take me home now?"

Sorry for the attempt at morbid humor, but he really pissed me off on that count.

Best of Brent Mydland Project Vol. 1 1990 Spring
____________________________________________________________________
Brent Mydland Spring 1990 Compilation "Best Of"

TECH NOTES:
All recordings are SBD sources from the 1990 Spring tour.

A number of md5 and ffp files are included in this release. These are included for various reasons and are all meaningful in maintaining a link to the original filesets. They are:

1: BrentSpring90-originalSHN-.md5 - the original md5 entries for the original SHN versions of the files included in this compilation.

2: BrentSpring90WAV.md5 - contains md5 hashes for the resultant .wav files after decoding from shn.

3: BrentSpring90Flac.ffp - contains flac fingerprints for this fileset after encoding to flac.

All md5 hashes in BrentSpring90-originalSHN-.md5 are listed in proper track order. For example:
f72524dd58b3c53556cc673f416aee10 *gd90-03-18d1t01.shn = BrentSpring90d1t1.flac
This was done to make it easy for anyone to visually verify the original md5's. But trust me, they all do verify!

Concept Notes:
As you can see the tracks have been presented in chronological order. Belive it or not, this was pure happenstance. In listeing through the compilation myself I felt that the flow and order of the tracks is just superb, keeping the energy going where it is going, and slowly picking it up wherever needed. This is my first attempt at making a "Best Of" compilation, the entries that were chosen made me feel good, and allowed me to reach that place that we all love to get. With that being said, we all know whats left to do, download, burn and enjoy! The next volume/year/tour has not been decided yet, if you have any suggestions and/or tracks of which you feel should be nominated for the "Best Of Brent" project please either email me with your selection or send a pm to the user "Keysareme".

On each disc except for disc three, there is room for some fillers, do with that space as you choose, and please feel free to let me know if I've missed something that must be included! Enjoy, and keep it lossless, keep it free, and stay in the groove of life.

-keys (garret)

doble edit~ looks like UU got to it , and knows how to get it to you. ENJOY
